The Painted Portrait

I never stop thinking of paintings I want/need to make. I love the landscape. I grow and love flowers and don’t feel comfortable in my home without them in the house. However, the most exciting paintings I’ve done are portraits.

Recently a my son moved into my studio—this was torture. He’s moved on now and my canvases await…

This must be my favorite painted portrait—daughter Jessica. It started as a project to photograph my daughter and a group of her high school friends—to capture them at a particular time in their lives, on the brink of adulthood.

Besides developing negatives from this project, I also printed the collection of images. A favorite of those translated beautifully into oil.
